This workshop – immersed in the greenery only a stone’s throw from the Piazza del Duomo in Pietrasanta – was founded in the 1950s by  Cesare Poli, producing figurative and animal statuettes, mainly for the overseas market, until the 1980s.

In 1983 Ivo took over (following the death of his father), after giving up his architecture practice in order to keep this craftsman’s workshop alive. Over a 20 year period of work, Ivo was able to expand the production of all ceramics, majolica and terracotta by adding tables, coverings, decorative panels and everything that can be made from terracotta to its existing line of vases.

Products were exhibited at Italy’s top trade fairs and the workshop collaborated with a considerable number of artists of the calibre of I. Mitoraj, R. Cosci, N. Finotti, M. Gamundi, and M. Corda in the creation of their works of art in terracotta.
For the workshop’s vases Ivo re-works the classical shapes of the Tuscan tradition with his own hand-decorating and modelling, enriching houses, villas and even Pietrasanta’s Cathedral square, its new buildings, many gardens and historic villas, for which it produces (by commission) unique, customised pieces.
