The Lapis studio started life 30 years ago in the historic centre of Pietrasanta with the aim of keeping craftsmanship alive.
In this place, which has always been used as a sculpture studio, the production of classical and modern, including monumental works for private individuals goes hand in hand with large spaces devoted to instruction for young sculptors from the Academy as well as many foreigners. Here, they learn the techniques needed to express their creativity in marble sculpture.
Anat Goldansky, a philosopher and set designer born in Jerusalem, has lived in Italy for 18 years. She runs this studio, in which she learned both the techniques of marble sculpture and clay modelling, expanding the usual product line into portraiture and artistic funerary art. The central theme in her creative journey has been that of  transformation, in all its aspects:  from the physical to the purely symbolic, like characters from fantasy, motherhood and old age.
