Carlo Barsi first started work at the age of 14 in the workshop of Gino Lucarini, founder of the Fonderia Versiliese and one of the greatest master craftsmen.
After a three-year apprenticeship he decided to complete his training with experience in gold and/or silver jewellery micro-casting by working at Camisa in Pietrasanta for about 4 years.
He entered the world of bronze art casting in 1980 on joining the “Bottega Versiliese” – also known as “partners in the trade” – where he specialised in the preparation of the basic wax copy for use in the “lost wax” process, the oldest casting method of all.
In 1984 he founded his own “studio” in partnership with Valerio, where they work purely for artists of international importance, Botero being the prime example.
