This workshop was founded in 1989 by Stefano Giannoni and his father, Aldo, when it became necessary to split up the large workshop which was owned by  the numerous offspring of the Giannoni family, well known in Pietrasanta for its activity in the artistic marble working trade.
This is a small workshop still using the “old fashioned" methods and where – without specialised machines – the hand guides the chisels and hammer drills used in the production of all kinds of works made in full relief.
The family management requires each person to do several jobs.  So Stefano and his father, Aldo, do rough-hewing and modelling, sculpting, rasping and polishing, mainly for "classical” statues deriving from Graeco-Roman models or re-examinations of classics by Michelangelo and Canova.
In addition to these products there is a great deal of collaboration with contemporary sculptors like Athos Ongaro and Anne Itzykson, Borghi, Folon, Mitoraj and Kobe in the production of their works.
