Massimo Galleni began working marble in 1980 as an apprentice in the craftsman’s workshop of sculptor Enzo Pasquini.
He has the rare ability to model marble without recourse to a three-dimensional plaster or clay model.  All he needs is a drawing or photo in order to transform a customer’s idea into an original work.  He was thus able to open a workshop in 1996 where (along with his team) he produces anything in marble that can be made using traditional tools:  classical, religious and modern sculpture; works in bas-relief and high relief; vases, capitals, decoration, ornamentation, portraits and fireplaces, like the ones 5 metres high made for a private customer in Saint Petersburg.
Various modern sculptors make use of the workshop\'s facilities, for example H. Albert, A. Cromy, C. Capotondi, M. Gamundi,  G. Maraniello, A. Mazzoni, L. Ontani, A. Pinna, U. Sanches, A. Trotta, Rabarama.
For its most regular customer, Maestro Vangi, in 2003 the workshop produced "Il grande racconto (The great story)", a sculpture made from a block of white Carrara marble weighing 160 tonnes, for the National Museum of Hakone, Japan.
